A French style room can take on more of a Country French style or a French Manor/Parisian style. Both are simple but elegant and timeless.

The French Country style is casual and relaxed, yet elegant at the same time. Furniture pieces can often look like they are family antiques that have been updated. Of course, they may actually be quality reproduction pieces. The timber furniture is left natural and rustic or often painted white and distressed. Add elements of nature and wrought iron and you have that French Country look.

A French Manor or Parisian style room is elegant and luxurious, but not glitzy, detailed, but not overdone. Add French antique furniture (or reproduction pieces) and decorative faux finishes (such as stucco, patina, distressed and paneling). Use fabrics, art and ornaments inspired by nature and flowers. For a very French decorative finish use gilding on furniture, frames and ornaments.
