ECLECTIC STYLE
Eclectic interior design is the way to go if you just can’t choose one style. A great example of eclectic style is one that encompasses a variety of periods and styles and is brought together through a theme such as the use of colour, texture, shape and finish. It will include a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Eclectic style is about mixing rather than matching, though all design elements should coordinate to achieve a look that is fresh and avant-garde. Borrowing from different sources and periods, eclectic style is a highly individualised style and is easily changed on a whim or added to when a new favourite arrives. If you feel you are designing with an eclectic style you will find you are trying to add all your favourites using a theme. Eclectic style starts with a few anchor pieces and adds from there. Find a great sideboard or vintage piece that tells a story and build on that story, it may be through colour or pattern but this 1st piece will help you start your style story. |
